Picture this: a sea of pink, a cacophony of cheers and laughter, and a palpable sense of hope and determination in the air. This isn't just any event - it's the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, a beacon of light in the fight against breast cancer. And let me tell you, if you've never been, you're missing out on something truly extraordinary.
As I stood amidst the crowd of people in the Hope Village area, serving up our special chocolates as gifts to hundreds of incredible survivors courtesy of the love and generosity of the Karen Gandarillas Legacy, I couldn’t help but feel a surge of emotions. It's not just about the sweets or the fundraising; it's about the people - survivors, fighters, and those we've lost. Their stories, their courage, and their resilience is incredibly inspiring.
At the heart of it all lies three essential virtues: faith, love, and hope. These aren't just words; they're the lifeblood of our existence, the guiding stars that lead us through even the darkest of times.
First and foremost, there's faith. It's the unwavering belief in something greater than ourselves, the trust that carries us through the toughest of storms. As Corrie ten Boom once said, "Faith sees the invisible, believes the unbelievable, and receives the impossible." It's the anchor that keeps us grounded, the light that banishes fear and doubt.
Then there's love - pure, unconditional, and eternal. It's the force that binds us together, the essence of our very being. Jesus himself commanded us to love one another as he has loved us, and that's a pretty powerful call to action if you ask me. Love isn't just a feeling; it's a choice, a decision to extend grace and compassion to those around us.
And finally, there's hope - the confident expectation of better days ahead. It's the light at the end of the tunnel, the promise that keeps us going when all seems lost. With hope in our hearts, we can overcome any obstacle, scale any mountain, and emerge victorious on the other side.
But here's the thing - we can't do it alone. We need each other, now more than ever. So I urge you, my fellow warriors in this battle against breast cancer, to keep stacking up the prayers, to keep shining your light in the darkness, and to keep spreading love and joy wherever you go.
And if you feel called to do more, if you want to make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by this disease, I invite you to join us in our mission to end breast cancer forever. Visit komencolumbus.org and select "Komen Columbus" or "2024 Komen Columbus Race for the Cure" to donate and get involved.
Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can bring an end to breast cancer. Together, we can stand strong for others and shine brilliantly bright in the face of adversity.
With faith, love, and hope as our guiding lights, there's nothing we can't accomplish. So let's lace up our shoes, raise our voices, and march forward with courage and conviction. The future may be uncertain, but one thing is for sure - with each step we take, we're one step closer to a world without breast cancer.
Shine on, my friends. The world is counting on us.
With love and hope,
Brock

Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29) These words from John the Baptist point directly to the heart of Easter—the sacrifice of Jesus, the Lamb, who bore our sin. Let’s take a moment to reflect on what that really means and why it's a story worth knowing and sharing again and again.

This weekend I met Kamryn Babb. His story of shattered dreams and unshakable faith reminded me—and now I hope you—that who we are is not found in what we do… but in Who we belong to.
