Living Open-Hearted

Hey friend,

This is part two of our message series on the sacred courage of opening your heart—especially in a world that gives us every reason to close it. If part one explored why we close off, this week is all about how to live wide open again.

Let’s get real: it’s not easy to keep your heart open in a world that wounds.

Everywhere we turn, we’re taught to protect, to perfect, to perform.

But Jesus didn’t come so we could self-preserve. He came so we could live fully alive. And that kind of living starts with a decision:

Will I keep my heart open, even here? Even now? Even after that?

Forgiveness is one way back. Not because others always deserve it, but because you do—your peace does.

Gratitude is another. It’s like a key that unlocks your heart on the darkest days.

And wonder? It reawakens the awe.

The music.

The tears.

The morning light dancing through the window.

When your heart is open, joy returns. Love flows without demand. Life regains its flavor.

You stop chasing fulfillment and start living it.

But hear me on this: an open heart doesn’t let everything in. It lets God’s love lead the way.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5

Even if you’ve been hurt. Even if you feel disconnected. Even if you’ve been “fine” for far too long—there’s still room to reopen.

One shift that I’m working on, and let me tell you–it’s hard for me.

Default to trust.

Seriously. Think about it and ask yourself, what if I just started there?

Yes, some people might disappoint you. But the speed you gain and the energy you save from not constantly bracing for betrayal? It’s worth it.

↓ trust = ↓ speed and ↑ cost

Trust invites connection. It moves relationships forward. It creates momentum in your life, your business, and your faith walk. And even when it’s imperfect, it’s often far more fruitful than suspicion ever was.

Your heart still works. And its best days aren’t behind it.

So this week, here’s your gentle reminder:
Keep it open.

Especially when it hurts.

That’s when love is trying to move through you the most.
