Anchored in Hope

Dear Friend,

Some messages don’t leave us.
They linger.

Last week’s reflection stirred something deeper than I expected. And judging by the responses, it stirred something in many of you too.

Why?

Because when we slow down long enough to ask what we’re really anchored in, what holds us steady when life pulls at our hearts, it reveals what we believe at the core.

Not the fleeting. Not the shallow. But the sacred.

This week, we begin a special three-week series we are calling Matters of the Heart. Today, and for the next two weeks leading into Valentine’s Day, we are intentionally focusing on what truly holds our hearts steady when life feels noisy, rushed, or uncertain.

This week’s theme is Anchored in Hope.

Not hope in circumstances.
Not hope in outcomes.
But hope anchored in the One who never changes.

In a world filled with opinions, distractions, and constant pressure to perform, people are searching for something solid. Every day, whether they say it out loud or not, people are wondering:

Am I making the right decision?
Does anyone really see what I’m carrying?
Is there something more than just getting through the next day?

Maybe you’ve asked those questions too.

Late at night.

In a quiet moment.

Or during a season that feels heavier than usual.

Here’s what I know.

Once our hope is anchored, we begin to see others differently.

One of the most powerful things we can do for someone is come alongside them and speak into their life. Not from a place of assumption. Not from a desire to fix. But from a place of genuine care.

When someone takes the time to understand where I am and what I’m walking through, and then shares something that helps me get to the other side, it changes everything. Sometimes they say words I didn’t even know I needed to hear until the moment they were spoken.

That is what it means to speak into someone’s life.

And when it’s done with humility, wisdom, and love, it has nothing to do with us and everything to do with them. Their growth. Their confidence. Their future. Their becoming.

What You Know Could Help Someone

You may not always realize it, but what you carry matters.

Your perspective.
Your faith.
Your lived experience.

When you choose to speak into someone’s life because you know them, because you truly care, and because you are anchored in truth, something shifts. Your words become a stabilizing force.

A reminder that they are not alone.

A reminder that there is hope beyond what they can see right now.

So I want to gently encourage you today.

Pause for a moment and ask yourself:

Who today could use an encouraging word from me?
Who might need to be reminded of who they are and whose they are?
Who could walk a little lighter, stand a little taller, or take the next step forward because I chose to speak life into them?

Don’t let the moment pass.

A short message.
A kind word.
Even a quiet prayer.

It could be the anchor someone needs today.

This is how hope spreads. Quietly. Intentionally. Faithfully.

As we continue through Matters of the Heart this week and over the next two weeks, my prayer is that each message helps you slow down, reflect, and reconnect with what truly matters.

Because when our hearts are anchored in hope, we are able to love more freely, give more generously, and speak more intentionally.

And that kind of love lasts far beyond a single day on the calendar.
