What If You’re Luckier Than You Think?
Do me a favor today.
Actually, do yourself one.
Start noticing how lucky and blessed you already are.
Not someday. Not when everything finally works out. Not when the problem disappears, the schedule clears, or life gets easier.
Today. Right where you are.
The Things We Stop Seeing
This morning, you got out of bed.
Maybe your knees complained a little. Mine occasionally submit formal grievances. 😄
But you moved.
Wow. I’m blessed that my body carried me into another day.
You texted a friend who knows you well.
Wow. I’m blessed to have good people in my life.
You walked past books you still haven’t read.
Instead of thinking, “I’m behind,” try:
Wow. I’m blessed to still have things to learn.
Maybe somebody is waiting for you at home.
Maybe God gave you a gift, talent, opportunity, or ability you’ve gotten so accustomed to that you barely notice it anymore.
Look again.
This Isn’t Pretending
I’m not suggesting we ignore the hard stuff.
There is hurt.
There is disappointment.
There are days when the darkness seems a whole lot louder than the light.
Gratitude doesn’t mean pretending those things aren’t real.
It means refusing to let them become the only things we see.
Because love is real too.
Joy is real.
Kindness is real.
God’s grace is real.
And blessings have a funny habit of hiding inside things we’ve started calling “ordinary.”
Train Your Eyes for Good
The responses I’ve received from this community lately have reminded me of something personally:
I am incredibly blessed to get to do this.
To encourage you.
To hear your stories.
To share a little goodness in a world that could certainly use more of it.
So here’s my challenge for you:
Before today ends, find three things that make you say:
“Wow. I’m blessed.”
Better yet, reply and tell me one of yours.
Big or small.
I’d genuinely love to hear it.
Because what we intentionally look for, we tend to notice more often.
Look for lucky. Look for blessed. Look for His goodness.
It’s almost always there somewhere.
You’ve just gotta notice it.
With gratitude and appreciation,
Your friend,
Brock
P.S. Your turn: What’s one ridiculously ordinary thing in your life that, when you really think about it, is actually a pretty extraordinary blessing? Write it down. Say it out loud. Share it with someone. Hit reply
