The Silent Battle

There’s a battle happening all around us—and within us. The question is, are you paying attention?

This message comes from my heart, influenced by recent events, focused observations, and a deep desire to increase self-awareness. My hope is that it provokes thought, sparks questions, and lovingly encourages you to take notice. You may have a different perspective, and that’s okay. But after reading, I pray it leaves you with something to consider.

We are all shaped by our experiences, beliefs, and surroundings. The longer we live, the more we do, see, and feel—the more we hopefully learn. That’s how wisdom is built. In my 50 years, I’ve seen my share of valleys, losses, and battles. But I’ve also been incredibly blessed to have come through them. I wholeheartedly believe God carried me, surrounding me with people who spoke life and truth when I needed it most.

There is a very real enemy in this world, one whose mission is destruction. The devil prowls, seeking to steal, kill, and destroy, just as the Good Book says. And the greatest deception? Convincing people he doesn’t exist at all. When you don’t recognize the enemy, you become an easy target—drifting with the world’s pull, unaware of the dangers until you’re caught in a place that’s hard to return from.

This battle is not fought with weapons, governments, or nations. It begins in the mind and spirit, in our homes, in our relationships, and yes, even online. The world is broken, and we are all fragile, susceptible to the traps of temptation, comparison, pride, and distraction. But here’s the most critical truth: if a person doesn’t recognize their own fallen nature, they won’t see their need for a Savior.

When we fail to see our need for God, we become easy prey for the world’s influence—living for the moment, seeking approval from others, and placing worth in things that don’t last. But for those who make this connection, everything changes. They understand the urgency to be on guard, because independently, we are not stronger than the world. Recognizing this doesn’t make you weak—it makes you wise. It means you’re human and in need of God’s guidance, protection, and truth.

That which you FOCUS on… grows. What fills your mind and heart will ultimately shape your life. That’s why it’s essential to take a hard look at where your time, attention, and energy are going. There are cracks—small access points that allow the enemy in. And more often than not, the greatest threat isn’t what’s obvious. It’s the small, daily distractions. The things that seem harmless but over time, pull us away from what truly matters.

How much of your life is being stolen by screens, endless scrolling, and voices that don’t align with your values? How often do we let social media, news cycles, or entertainment shape our perspective more than God’s Word? It’s time to reclaim our attention and be intentional about where we invest our focus.

Instead of giving the world more of your time, focus on God, your family, your closest relationships. Stop caring about likes, shares, and opinions from people who have no real stake in your life.

The more we pour into the things that matter, the stronger we become.

From my own experience, when I start my day with God, everything else follows. It doesn’t mean life is perfect or without hardship, but it means I’m better equipped to fight the battles that come my way.

"So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh." — Galatians 5:16

"Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine." — John 15:4-5

With gratitude and a heart full of faith,

Your Friend, Brock

P.S. That which you FOCUS on… grows. Focus on faith, family, and life’s sweet moments—you’ll never regret making room for what truly matters. ❤️
