Sweet Rewards Are Found Here
Ever started something with crazy excitement, only to find yourself knee-deep in frustration, thinking, “Why did I sign up for this?”
Yeah, same.
When we started Dulci Sweets, we had a vision: handcrafted chocolates that weren’t just delicious but meaningful—gifts that connected people, created memories, and reminded folks of what truly matters. I imagined the joy, the celebrations, the moments made sweeter because of what we created.
What I didn’t imagine?
The issues with designing boxes, website coding, securing the right packaging, and endless problem-solving. The moments of second-guessing, wondering if all the effort was worth it.
But here’s what I’ve learned: 80% of the time, it’s gonna be hard. You’ll question yourself. You’ll want to quit. You’ll wonder if the work is actually leading somewhere.
And then comes the 20%. The moment someone tells you, "That chocolate gift made my mom’s entire week."
The moment a business owner says, "I’ve never seen my employees so excited over a thank-you gift."
The moment a community member responds back, "I loved this week's message and will share it with a friend who will benefit from it too."
The moment you realize that every late night, every challenge, every moment of doubt led to something that matters.
That 20%? It makes up for all the hard.
And here’s where we pivot like a YouTube love story gone wrong.
(Fun fact: YouTube started as a video dating site—yeah, after five days, zero people uploaded a single video.😆 Instead of quitting, they pivoted. Today? There are nearly 4 billion videos on YouTube.)
Sometimes, when things feel impossible, it’s not about quitting—it’s about adjusting, staying in the game, and finding a new way forward.
Maybe you’re in that place right now. You started something—a business, a dream, a mission—and now it’s harder than you expected. Maybe it’s not shaping up exactly how you planned. But that doesn’t mean it’s over. It just means you’re in the middle of the 80%.
I know this because I’ve lived it. And I see it every day in the people around me who refuse to quit when it gets tough.
So whatever you’re pushing through right now—your career, your marriage, your faith, your dreams—just remember: Hard doesn’t mean stop. It means you’re on the right track.
If it were easy, everyone would do it. But because it’s hard, because it takes commitment and perseverance, it’s worth more than you can imagine.
And when you finally hit that 20%—that moment where everything clicks, where the fruit of your labor is right in front of you—you’ll know why you never gave up.
With gratitude and belief in you,
Brock
P.S. If you’re in the middle of the grind, don’t quit. Pivot if needed, breathe if you must, but don’t walk away. And if you need a little encouragement—something sweet to remind you why you started—I know a place that makes some pretty great chocolate. 😉
