Keep Planting

Dear Friend,

Have you ever planted something, prayed over it, watered it, watched it, checked on it, stared at it, maybe even gave it a little pep talk, and still thought…

“Well, this is rude.”

Nothing.

Not a sprout.
Not a leaf.
Not a tiny little “thank you for your effort.”

Just dirt.

And if we are honest, that is where many of us start to get a little dramatic.

Come on now, that can’t only be me, right?

We plant a seed on Monday and by Wednesday we are wondering if we should move to another field, change our whole life plan, buy a goat, and start fresh.

But planting season is quiet.

That does not mean nothing is happening.

It means the most important work is often taking place beneath the surface.

The challenge and advantage is to not dismiss or marginalize the quiet work no one sees.

Starting and building a business has taught me this lesson over and over again.

People often see the sweet part.

They see the chocolate.
They see the gift boxes.
They see the ribbon, the smiles, the celebrations, and the finished product.

But they do not always see the planting season.

The long days of planning.
The late nights of budgeting.
The construction decisions and lengthy process.
The marketing ideas that worked, and the ones that absolutely did not.
The hiring.
The training.
The systems.
The sales calls.
The prayer.
The waiting.
The wondering.
The moments when you ask, “Lord, are we still on the right path?”

Building anything meaningful is not for the faint of heart.

Honestly, you might be better served to be a tad crazy.

Good thing, Mike is a lot crazy.

But I believe the better path is to be extremely faithful, committed, patient, and trusting.

Because a dream worth building will almost always require a season where you are planting more than you are harvesting.

And that season can and absolutely will test you.

Even more reason to know and be affirmed in this truth: Growth Happens Underground First

The seed does not question whether growth is happening underground.

It simply receives what it needs.

The water.
The soil.
The sunlight.
The time.

And maybe that is the invitation for us.

To stop trying to force the harvest.
To stop digging up the seed just to see if it is working.
To stop calling a quiet season a wasted season.

Your job is not to force fruit before its time.

Your job is to keep planting faithfully.

Plant the encouragement.
Plant the business idea.
Plant the prayer.
Plant the act of service.
Plant the discipline nobody claps for.

God sees what is happening beneath the surface.

And He is never confused by the dirt.

So, dear friend, do not grow weary. Keep Planting!

Not every good day comes with a visible harvest.

Some good days are seed days.

Some good days are watering days.

Some good days are training days, building days, preparing days, learning days, waiting days, and trusting days.

And those days matter.

Maybe more than we realize.

Because the harvest does not begin when the fruit appears.

It begins when the seed is planted.

This week, ask yourself one simple question:

What seed can I faithfully plant today?

Maybe it is one brave step toward something God has placed on your heart.

And if this message made you think of someone who is in a quiet planting season, send it to them. They may need the reminder that hidden growth is still holy growth.

Gratefully Serving People Who Love Extraordinary Chocolate,

P.S. Speaking of seeds that became a harvest, our country is getting ready for a truly massive celebration.

The United States of America turns 250 years old this Independence Day, July 4, 2026.

That is a whole lot of history, courage, sacrifice, faith, family, community, and fireworks.

At Dulci, we believe moments like this deserve to be celebrated with purpose. God, family, country, and community are worth honoring well.
