Faithfully Restored

I want to share something that’s been on my heart, and I think it’ll resonate with you too. We all know life’s not always a smooth ride. Sometimes, we’re left asking, “Why me?” or “What now?” And in those moments, it can be so easy to lose sight of the bigger picture. But here’s the thing: Trusting in God’s plan is not just about accepting the unknown; it’s about knowing that He’s got something amazing in store for you, even if you can’t see it yet.

Let me take you on a little journey of faith. I recently had the privilege of meeting Jamie and Daniel Heard for the first time in Nashville, TN. It was earlier this year when my wife and two of our closets friends, Matt and Alissa Higgins surprised me with a birthday trip to Nashville to celebrate my 50th.  Alissa and Jamie have known each other since high school, and since they live nearby, her and Daniel decided to swing by and join us. I soon learned that Jamie is one of the four incredible women who founded the wonderful non-profit organization, Faithfully Restored. 

Given the circumstances of that night, it wasn’t until a few days later that I learned more of Jamie’s story—a story of great loss and pain that led to the purposeful creation of Faithfully Restored. At 25, Jamie’s dad tragically took his own life. Several years later, she and Daniel were living as a happy family of four, raising their daughter, Madeline, and son, William. Until one horrific day when their world was forever changed. Their two-and-a-half-year-old son, William, died after choking during lunch.

Jamie shared with me, “Walking through the pain of losing a child can be extremely isolating. But God has provided such an amazing community of women around me so I never feel alone.”  

There’s no doubt she’s been through tough times, but instead of letting her struggles hold her back, she’s used them to fuel a mission of healing and hope.

Jamie said something that stuck with me: “I know that I might never understand the details of God’s plan, but I trust it with all my heart.”

And isn't that the essence of faith?  It’s believing, and trusting—even when we don’t understand why things happen, and we can’t see ahead—that God has a plan, and it’s good.

But here's the real kicker: faith isn't just about us. It’s about the incredible “who”—the people who are standing beside us, ready to walk with us through the toughest times. That’s where Faithfully Restored comes in. They’re not just an organization. They’re a lifeline for women who have experienced unimaginable loss. They don’t just show up once and disappear—they stay. They walk with you through every step of the grieving process.

This week, as a result of God’s plan and that “impromptu” meeting one night in Nashville, 275 women entering their first holiday season after losing a loved one will receive a curated gift package from Faithfully Restored, complete with a exquisite bag of Dulci Sweets’ signature Brock Bites. A sweet treat with a powerful message: “You are not alone. You are loved.” I can’t think of a more beautiful reminder that even in the midst of grief, there’s hope.

Now, here’s the thing about faith. It’s not just a feeling—it’s a choice. We choose to believe that God has a purpose for us. We choose to trust Him, even when things don’t make sense. Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” This is the truth! When we commit our work to Him, He establishes our steps. And let me tell you, if you step out in faith, the extraordinary happens.

But here’s the part I want you to hear loud and clear: YOU have the power to change lives. You might be wondering, “How?” It’s simple: Just like Jamie and her team at Faithfully Restored, you can make an impact. You can be the “who” that someone else needs. You can step in with faith, love, and kindness and help turn someone’s pain into purpose.

They show up again and again, helping women not just grieve, but heal, restore, and thrive. And that’s the power of trusting in God’s plan. He can turn anything—even the hardest, most painful, and messy of moments—into something beautiful.
