A Tribute to Every Kind of Mom
Hey friends,
Mother’s Day is nearly here—and if we’re being real, it can sometimes feel a little too polished.
You know what I’m talking about: the filtered photos, the color-coordinated gift baskets, the “she woke up like this” version of motherhood. It’s lovely, sure—but it’s not the whole story.
So today, we’re flipping the script.
Because real motherhood isn’t always tidy.
It’s not glamorous, but it’s good—built on love, sacrifice, laughter, and more laundry than any one person should ever face.
That’s the kind of motherhood I want to celebrate.
When I think of my mom, I don’t picture a woman who had it all together.
I picture a woman who held it together.
For her family.
For my sister and me.
Most days, all she had was prayer, perseverance, and whatever strength God gave her—and somehow, that was enough.
She didn’t get it all right, but she gave it all she had.
And that’s what makes her story sacred.
To be honest, she didn’t have time to concern herself with perfect. Two small kids, finding a job, saving our home, trying to build a career to provide stability in unfamiliar world–that’s called survival.
She made it work on a shoestring budget and sheer willpower.
She didn’t have the luxury of perfection—but she had the heart of a lion.
And I know she’s not alone.
This Mother’s Day, we’re lifting up all the moms:
👩🍼 Single moms who wore all the hats (and still made time for bedtime stories).
👵 Grandmas who raised their own and came back around to do it again.
👩⚕️ Working moms who held down meetings and meltdowns in the same hour.
📚 Classroom moms who managed glue sticks, field trips, and 27 permission slips.
🧎♀️ Spiritual moms who prayed us through seasons we didn’t even know we were in.
🛏 Caregivers who stayed up nights comforting others when they needed comforting too.
Their stories may not make it onto a Hallmark card, but they should be written in gold.
Because these women—these warriors of love and tenacity—deserve to be seen, known, and celebrated.
They taught us that love isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about showing up—again and again—with whatever you’ve got left, and giving it anyway. Waking up and doing it all again tomorrow.
And that, dear friends, is nothing short of extraordinary.
That’s what we’re celebrating this week–Sunday, and as much as we possibly can all others too.
Whether she’s here to hug or only held in memory, Mother’s Day is a chance to say what often goes unsaid:
“Thank you for doing what you could… with what you had… and never giving up on love.”
